You’ll find Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey in the middle of the North York Moors National Park and Spyglass 1708 in downtown Whitby on Yorkshire's Heritage Coastline. Our holiday homes are approximately 20-miles apart.
Whichever holiday home you decide to book, you'll find both locations are very handy for visiting all the sites of interest within the region.
By Road to Whitby - Spyglass 1708

From York (to the South), take the A64 route towards Scarborough. At the Malton by-pass, take the A169 (North) towards Pickering. In Pickering you will come to a roundabout with a large Hotel (the Forest and Vale).
Go straight across on the A169 to get to Whitby - a further 18-miles distant.
Once in Whitby, Spyglass 1708 can be found in Rose & Crown Yard which is off Flowergate - the main shopping street on the West-side of town.
On other routes from the West, SW or SE, head for the A170 linking Thirsk to Scarborough. Travel in the correct direction (if coming from the West, SW or SE) until you reach Pickering, then follow instructions as above.
On routes from the North (Middlesbrough, Newcastle) and Scotland, aim for the A19 towards Thirsk.
From Thirsk, turn onto the A170 towards Helmsely.
Pass through Helmsley and head towards Pickering.
Follow the instructions above for the remainder of the trip.

Turn left here on to A170 towards Helmsley to get towards Rosedale Abbey.
Travel along this road over a small bridge and through the traffic lights.
Continue through Pickering towards Helmsley on the A170.
Once through the village of Aislaby (still on the A170), you will see a right turn signposted to Rosedale Abbey, Cropton and Wrelton.
Take this right hand turn.
This road snakes though the villages so just keep on the road and don't turn off until you reach Rosedale Abbey.
Rosella Cottage (6 Rosedale Abbey, YO18 8RA) is in the centre of the village (opposite a public car park of the Milburne Arms Public House).
On other routes from the West, SW or SE, head for the A170 linking Thirsk to Scarborough. Travel in the correct direction (if coming from the West, SW or SE) until you reach the village of Aislaby, then follow instructions as above.
On routes from the North (Middlesbrough, Newcastle) and Scotland, aim for the A19 towards Thirsk.
From Thirsk, turn onto the A170 towards Helmsely.
Pass through Helmsley and head towards Aislaby.
Follow the instructions above for the remainder of the trip.
Malton or Whitby are the closest train stations. York is probably the most practical for hiring a car and driving the remainder of the trip to Whitby or Rosedale Abbey.
Car ferries from Northern European ports arrive into Hull (to the South) and Newcastle (to the North).
Regional and international gateway airports within driving distance of Whitby or Rosedale Abbey include Durham Tees Valley (“Teeside Airport”), Newcastle Airport and Leeds/Bradford Airport.
Car hire is available at all these airports.
